Connect with the church family

There are lots of ways of plugging into life at our churches. You might want to join a house group, come to an event, learn more about our youth work, or find a way of serving within the church family. Explore these pages to learn more and please contact us if you have any questions.

Home Groups

Small Groups

Hanborough & Freeland Church currently run a number of small groups across the three villages meeting in people’s homes during the week. A typical small group is made up of around 6-12 people who meet once a week during the evening or during the day in the host's home. Our small groups provide a wonderful opportunity for church members to build relationships, to pray for one another, to worship together, to support one another and to study the Bible together.

In addition to our small groups that meet during the evening, we also run a ladies' lunchtime group which meets for Bible study, prayer and discussion on Fridays between 12.45-2:00 pm.

If you would like to attend one of our small groups, please contact us.

Prayer Meetings & Walks

A Meeting For Prayer is held on the first Wednesday evening of every month, 8pm to 9pm. We pray around international, national, local and church issues. Anyone is welcome join us and we hope you do! To find out more, telephone Nigel or Sarah Knights Johnson on 01993 359572.

Regular prayer walks are organised around our three villages. We walk for about an hour and often finish off with a visit to our local pub. We also enjoy 24hr prayer events where we encourage individuals to sign up for a one hour prayer slot. Individuals are often amazed that an hour's prayer feels like five minutes.

Music

At Hanborough & Freeland Church, we recognise that praising God through music in hymns and songs is not only a great blessing of creativity, but also key to our identity as worshipping communities.

Therefore, we delight in a broad range of musical styles in our churches, from modern worship band to organ and choral music. Though blessed with many players and singers, we are always open to new musicians becoming part of our team.

Please contact us for more information and how to get involved.

Maty and Sinead (3).jpg

Matthew and Sinead Andrews leaders of Exsultate Justi

Exsultate Justi is a small, occasional choir of experienced singers. We share a passion for sacred choral music in the best of the Anglican tradition.

We currently sing four times a year: for choral evensong in February/March, June, and October, and at the Benefice carol service in December.

There are no regular rehearsals, rather we gather before each service to prepare the music we're going to sing. A few more details about the choir are available at the choir's web-site:
